Elijah of Buxton is about an eleven year old boy who is the first child born into Freedom in Baxton, Canada West. This is a settlement of runaway slaves over the border from Detroit. Elijah is best known in his home town as the boy who made a memorable impression on Frederick Douglas, he threw up on him when he was a baby. He and his best friend Cooter, goes to school, Church, do chores, and play jokes on people. Elijah once put a huge toady- frog in his mother's knitting bag.

Oneday Elijah's mother decided to play a joke on him. A town visitor known as the Right Reverend Deacon Doctor Zephariah Connerly the Third also known as the Preacher knew that Elijah was scared of snakes with wild tales about vicious rolling hoop snakes, so he was also helping play a joke on Elijah. Elijah is confused about the Preacher, he knows there is something strange about him but cannot understand what it is. Elijah is very sensitive and his mother calls him fragile. He is scared to ride horses, and it is easy for him to cry.

When Elijah practices his special skills, killing fish by throwing rocks at them, the Preacher talks him out of catching the fish. Elijah is put to a test when he has to tell his neighbor sad news. He was told to be stong and don't break down and cry.

Oneday things started to change when a former slave steals money from Elijah's friend Mr. Leroy, who has been saving to buy his family out of captivity in the South. The slaves sends a man to buy his family's freedom. The Preacher disappears with the money somewhere in Michigan. The situation turned really bad, so Elijah decides to leave and go to America with his friend Mr. Leroy to find the thief to make everything right again. Elijah has to go through a lot and make decisions that means life or death. He had to forget about being sensitive and fragile because this was a hard job to do.

Throughout Elijah's journey, he discovered all the horrors of the life his parents ran away from. This was a life that he will always be free, if he is brave enough to make it back home. This story is powerful, sad, humerous, and full of adventure. It also teaches us some of our history. I'm just thankful that I didn't have to grow up during the days of slavery.

The story was interesting because Elijah was my age, 11 years old. He taught me that it doesn't matter if you are a young child, you can do anything if you put your mind to it. I also liked the ending because Elijah was scared of a lot of things , but he became brave to help his family.

THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS

The Harlem Globetrotters were founded in 1926 in Chicago by Abe Saperstein. Abe Saperstein grew up watching black boys play basketball in the streets of Chicago. Their talent impressed Saperstein, so he thought about a pro team for black players. At the time they weren't allowed to play on the all white professional teams. Abe Saperstein was only five-foot-three and had been a basketball player himself. Abe Saperstein
named the boys"Savoy Big Five" because they played their games in Chicago's Savoy Ballroom. They played several games with that name. Back in those days they didn't have home courts, so they just traveled around.

Their name changed to Saperstein's New York Globetrotters to Harlem New York Globetrotters. Then they decided to have their name as the Harlem Globetrotters since they grew up in Harlem. On January 7th 1927, they played their first game in Hinckley, Illinois with sport Jerseys having "New York" written on them to make people think it was where they came from. Living in the United States, they had to deal with a lot of prejudice. When they were on the road, it was hard for them to eat in the restaurants because they were black. In a lot of cities, they had to play two games a day. One was for the white people and the other was for the blacks.

In the 1940's, the Harlem Globetrotters beat the Chicago Bruins at the World Tournament, winning the National Pro Title. In 1950, their coach booked a tour to Western Europe and North Africa. In 1952, they played for the Pope. They also played before Kings, Queens, Princes, and Sultans over the years.

In 1966, their coach Abe Saperstein died, and in 1967 the Globetrotters were sold to three Chicago businessmen. In 1969, after 9,500 games in 42 years, the Globetrotters made their first appearance in Harlem, New York, at Intermediate School 201. In 1970, they began appearing in the Harlem Globetrotters Show, and Harlem Globetrotter Popcorn Machine and Show. They were called the Ambassadors of goodwill by President Gerald Ford.

On December 6th 1974, they went to the White House to receive a Presidential citation from Gerald Ford. In the 1980's, the teams popularity started slowing down, so in 1985 they added women to the team.

In 1993, a businessman named Mannie Jackson bought the Harlem Globetrotters to get them back popular. The teams 70th Anniversary was in 1997 and they showed no signs of ever slowing down again.

The Harlem Globetrotters are an all black team who travel around the world and have played in 115 countries for 120 million fans. They had 20,000 victories and only 332 losses and the only team that played so many games. On July 23, 2007, the only original Halem Globetrotter passed away in Midland, Texas. He died at the age of eighty-five.

To this day, the Harlem Globetrotters continue to travel around the world lighting up the hearts of the young and old people with their talent and sporting skills. I chose this book because I want to become a Professional Basketball Player when I grow up and I wanted to learn more about basketball skills. This story was very interesting because it taught me about team effort and never to give up on my dream.

Endangered species

Madagascar.Endangered species mean that animals are in danger and don't have no were to stay.The names of the animals are Chimpanzees,Gorillas and a whole lot of things.It is sad because all of the people is taking there homes and stuff.I hope it is any thing to stop the stuff that they doing.I want to know were they are going to stay when they don't have know home.I also want to know what are they going to eat.I wish it is any thing I could do to help them with it.The things that I want to know is why they are taking the animals home.The people that is taking they home or house.That is all I have to say about the Endangered species.

I am going to tell you about is basketball because it is really cool.My favorite team is the Lakers because they are awesome.My favorite player is cobe Briant because he is really good in shooting and blocking.The other reason wy I like the Lakers is because they made it to the finals but then they lost be the other team lost.I wish he tought me how to play basketball.My other favorite team is the Charlvalaers because they have all good players.

Now I am going to tell you what is my other favorite sport is and it is football.I always play it at school at recces.I have a team and the name of are team is the beasts because we are really good.The Pearson that helps us with it is Anthony.We use him as are quarterback because he is a good thrower.Sometimes we loose and sometimes we win.Are team gets really mad when we loose and are team gets really happy when we when.We are mad because the other team won twice and are team won once.We had a lot of twice.The only thing I don't like is that we get recces for a short amount of time.Sometimes we try to practice but we don't have a lot of time to do it because they want to get the game started.Basketball and football is my favorite sport but Ilike football better because you can takle each other. I just don't like playing two hand touch becaue it is to easy to get the touchdown.I am really good in catching but not thowing

Drugs

I am going to tell you why is drugs bad.The reason drugs are bad is because it makes you turn into another person.If you get coughs with drugs you should go to jail.The reason all those things

are bad for you is because it would give you bad lungs.The reason cigarettes are bad for you is because it would make your lips turn black .If you keep on smoking cigarettes you would

get conducted to it.Drugs are like the worst thing to smoke because you can get sick and

you can get high.The reason its bad to get high is because you can be in a car and you can

crash.Liquor is also bad for you because you can get drunk.If you try to light up a paper

and smoke it you can get Cancer because you don't soppose to smoke paper because it gives you

bacteria.It was a good thing for Kiki to stop the drug issue because the thing was going to get worse.It was sad for Kiki to give his life away for something he did not do or smoke.I want to know who was the person to make drugs and if they found the person he should go to

jail because he is just making the world get worse by sailing his stupid drugs he make for people.

tech

I think that I am doing good in tech because I have been doing better
and I was not playing video game when I was not suposed to.The only things I have problems with is the things on the computer like wiki.The only bad thing I do is licen to music.When I dont know what to do I call the teacher to help me and she does somtimes.The things that I learned in tech is my gmail and wiki .The thing that I need help with is how to load up web sights.I think tech is fun because you get to play video games.M.S MILLER is fun because she let us play games
and create games.The reason tech is fun is because you can
be on cool computers.

THE BEST ADVICE I HAVE RECEVE

The best advice I got from someone was to be good and
stay out of trouble and If I did get in trouble .
If I did not follow that rule I would probaly be grounded.
The person who told me to be good was my dad and mom.
They were telling me to do good at my new school.The reason
It is a good advice is because I need to get good grades and get
goals for college.I am 11 about to get 12 on June ,1998.It is also good to
be a good person so you can be what you want when you get older.
My parents also tode me If you get into a fight you would get in trouble.
The reason I don't want to do it is because you can get suspended or
get excelled.The reason I don't do non of this stuff is because my mom gave me a good advice
and the other reason is because I don't want to get in trouble.......

THE WIZARD OF OZ

The Wizard of Oz is about a young girl named Dorothy and her dog Toto. They live with Dorothy's Uncle Henry and Aunt Em in a small house in Kansas on a farm.

One day a cyclone came and whirled the house up into the air. Dorothy and Toto were the only two in the house. The house landed in a place called Munchkin Land. Dorothy knew she was far away from home. She saw a lot of Munchkins that came to her and said thanks for killing the wicked witch.

A pink bubble came from the sky with a friendly witch inside named Glinda. Dorothy asked how she could get back home. Glinda told her she had to meet with the Wizard in Emerald City and he would help her get back home. Then Glinda made the silver shoes come off the wicked witch's feet and onto Dorothy's feet.

Glinda the friendly witch told Dorothy to follow the yellow brick road and be careful of the wicked witch from the East. Glinda went inside her bubble and up towards the sky and disappeared. The Munchkins told Dorothy good-bye as she headed down the yellow brick road. Dorothy met three friends as she walked down the yellow brick road, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Tin Woodman. She asked them to come along with her because the Wizard was going to help her get back home. The Scarecrow needed a brain, the Lion needed courage, and the Tin Woodman needed a heart.

The wicked witch tried to stop them, but they made it to Emerald City. The Wizard told them that they had to bring back the wicked witch's broom before he could give them what they all needed. They went to the witch's castle and ended up killing her with a splash of water. When she melted, they grabbed the broom and headed to Emerald City.

When Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, and the Tin Woodman made it back to Emerald City, they asked to see the Wizard. The Wizard didn't want to help them even though they brought him back the broom. They found out that he wasn't real, he was a big fake. Dorothy was very upset and started to cry. The Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Woodman started talking to her so she would feel better. The fake Wizard saw Dorothy crying and said that he would take her back to Kansas himself. Something happened, so the Wizard ended up leaving without her.

All of a sudden, there was Glinda the friendly witch coming down in a bubble to help Dorothy get back home. Dorothy said good-bye to her friends the Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, and the Tin Woodman. Glinda gave her a kiss and told Dorothy to close her eyes, click her heals three times, and say there is no place like home. Dorothy was finally back in Kansas on the farm with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em.

The Wizard of Oz was a very fun book to read. I really enjoyed looking at the movie as well, I've seen it a lot of times with my family. If you haven't read The Wizard of Oz or seen the movie, you are missing out on a big treat. I recommend that you try it for yourself because it is very interesting, fun, and full of excitement.

It is important to settle a disagreement by calling each others a snitch and the other person that

was called a snitch will get real mad and want to make a fight with the pearson that said it.It is bad to snitch because alot of peaple calling you a tatle tale.

It is also bad for peaple to bully peaple or theat sombody because you would be scared to go to

school or go outside.It is not nice if you make mamma jokes to peaple that you do

not know.It is not right to talk about nobody mom know way because you dont know there mom.

I am going to tell you what I am mot going to do.The things that I am not going to do
is smoking or doing interpreted thing that is against the law.The thing that I am going to do when I get older is going to be a basketball player or to be a
doctor.The reason I want to be a doctor is because I want to save a lot of people
so they will not die.All the things I see people do in my neighborhood is them drinking
bad things and smoking things and it be people in the world that be driving crazy.
I think that they should not have a liquor store because they always by liquor.The thing that I want to learn in college is math so I can be really be smart.The college I'm going to is UT because you can learn allot there.
